Honda Motor Co., Ltd. introduces technological developments that are being pursued to meet the challenges Honda faces in new areas while leveraging its core technologies. This direction is in conjunction with Honda's 2030 vision to serve people around the world with “the pleasure of developing their life potential.”
Honda R&D Co., Ltd., takes a leading role in Honda's technology research and development to conduct extraordinary research on technologies that will bring new value to people by expanding the potential of mobility to 3 dimensions, Then 4 dimensions that defy the boundaries of space and time, and finally to outer space.
Reported from Honda Indonesia, This new initiative is made possible by the key technologies that Honda has accumulated to date, including technology in the field of combustion, electrification, control, and robotics. Honda will strive to realize the pleasure of developing the potential of people's lives in new areas other than existing business areas, like the Honda eVTOL aircraft (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) which was developed by utilizing various key Honda technologies to make them more accessible to more people.
The Honda eVTOL has safety features at a level equivalent to commercial passenger aircraft which is realized by its simple structure and allows the Honda eVTOL to take off and land in the city without causing noise problems..
Honda will also develop the Avatar Robot with the aim of expanding the reach of human abilities virtually without limitations of time, place or space. Honda's Avatar robot will be equipped withmulti-finger hand, with the ability to carefully pick up small objects with fingertips and the strength to open tightly closed objects.
With the aim of putting Honda's Avatar Robot into practical use in the 2030s, Honda is pursuing development with the goal of conducting technology demonstration testing before the end of its fiscal year ending date 31 March 2024.
Honda also started an initiative to seek the expansion of human activities and development on the moon. Honda is conducting joint research with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) which aims to contribute to various human activities on the lunar surface.
Besides that, There are remote-controlled robots on the lunar surface to minimize the risks to astronauts and allow people to enjoy the virtual experience of being on the moon from Earth.. Honda is also working on developing a small rocket. The development of this rocket was initiated by a proposal made by young Honda engineers who wanted to build a small rocket using key technologies.
