Motorbikes are a practical type of vehicle for traveling through narrow roads. Currently, the type of motorbike that is most in demand is the automatic motorbike, which is very easy to operate.
Reporting from Suzuki Indonesia, Every automatic motorbike is equipped with a double clutch system which will make the motorbike run. This double clutch has two important components, namely the clutch housing and double lining.
As a vehicle owner, you must at least know the function of this double clutch lining and how it works.
Clutch lining is a mandatory component on motorbikes, including motorbikes with carburetor systems. In general, The clutch lining functions to connect the engine to the transmission system.
The presence of this clutch lining will move the wheels and finally the motorbike will run. Different from ordinary mopeds, On automatic motorbikes, the type of clutch lining used is double lining.
Even though the types are different, the function of this double lining is more or less the same, namely to transmit power from the engine to the rear wheels. This type of lining is only used on motorbikes that use the systemContinuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
There are two components used in double canvas. The first is the centrifugal clutch which is on the crankshaft and is the primary clutch. Second is the secondary clutch which is on the side of the transmission.
The function of the primary clutch is to stop engine rotation when the engine RPM is at a low position. Another primary function of the double clutch lining also connects the engine RPM when it is at the highest number.
The effect is that the motorbike will remain stationary when in the entry position and the engine is on. The function of the secondary part itself is to decide the engine rotation when a gear shift occurs. Without these two components, then the wheels don't turn and the motor doesn't run.
There are three ways of working of double clutch linings which can be applied as follows.
- Performance when the Engine is On
The first time you start the motor, then it doesn't start immediately because the primary clutch is not connected and the transmission is still in neutral. The performance of the primary clutch lining utilizes centrifugal force.
The shape is like a drum itself so that it moves away from the rotation axis. The resulting force is looser but not too big. That's why when you put the motor in gear it doesn't jerk. The reason is that the clutch housing and primary clutch do not rotate.
- Performance when the engine is off
It's different when the engine is off, In fact, at this time the primary clutch lining is attached to the clutch housing. The secondary clutch will connect to the clutch housing and disconnect when the transmission lever is pressed.
- Performance when Throttle is Pulled
The effect of double lining is greatest when you pull on the gas. Because acceleration occurs, then the increase in RPM on the engine takes place.
The centrifugal force on the primary clutch will increase so that it becomes stretched and there is a connection with the clutch housing. The engine rotation will also be transferred to the primary clutch lining to the secondary clutch and the wheels spin.
