Hyundai Motor Company announced that its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) STARIA has won the 'Best of the Best' award’ the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2022. Award “Best of the Best” awarded to the product with the best design breakthrough, and is the highest title in this competition. STARIA received the award for the Cars category & Motorcycles, which further strengthens Hyundai's global competitiveness in product design.
“STARIA is a new MPV line from Hyundai that was created with an ‘inside-out’ design approach and has opened a new era of mobility for all,” said SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President, Head of Hyundai Global Design Center. “Our design team has poured their enthusiasm into this product, working with world-class engineers to make that dream a reality.”
STARIA offers a very futuristic and mysterious exterior, resembling a spaceship. This MPV also has lines that stretch from front to back resembling the curve of light that illuminates the earth's horizon when the sun rises when seen from space..
Besides that, from the interior side, STARIA is inspired by cruise ships with a luxurious appearance and unique atmosphere that focuses on driver and passenger comfort. Lowered position of seat belts and windows panoramic on the side of the car also increases visibility optimally, and creates a spacious feel. This sense of spaciousness is also inspired by traditional Korean architecture, ‘hanok’, which gives passengers the sensation of feeling the outside view like part of the vehicle's interior.
Since it was launched last year, STARIA has won numerous awards for its design excellence and product innovation. STARIA received an award in the transportation category from GOOD DESIGN Awards 2021 and recognized in readers' polls for ‘Best Cars 2022’ hosted by the magazine car motor and sport from Germany.
The Red Dot Award is one of the largest design competitions in the world organized by Design Center North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. This award is divided into three different disciplines, among others: Product Design, Brand Design & Communication, and Design Concept, to obtain diversity of assessments in the field of design as a whole.
