even so, Indeed, myths related to electric cars still haunt us. Especially regarding the stun delivered by electric cars, to the battery anxiety that besets novice electric car owners.
Below are some electric vehicle myths that often haunt electric car owners:
1. Battery Anxiety
According to Gomgom, One of the concerns of electric car owners is when the battery runs out. It's not surprising that many people focus on looking at the battery percentage on the dashboard. Whereas, she said, like the Wuling Air EV which has two mileage variants (Long Range 300 kilometers and the Standard Range is approx 200 kilometer), What you should look at is the mileage indicator. So even if the battery is in good condition 20 percent, but the mileage is still remaining 50 kilometer, We can still arrive if the location we are going to is still far away 30 kilometer.
“So the point, What you see is the distance traveled, not an indicator of remaining battery percentage. If the mileage indicator is below 50 kilometer, It's a good idea to immediately look for the nearest electric car charging point,” Gomgom said.
2. UFO Voice Sounds
When an electric car passes by, the people around are often surprised by his quite futuristic voice, some even have no sound at all. It's not abnormal, but rather a sound module to warn pedestrians so that they are aware of a passing electric car.
3. Electric cars electrify when being washed
It's called an electric car, and equipped with a lithium-ion battery. This battery is the same as the power used for smartphones. It is just, the shape is bigger and heavier. Nah, the same goes for smartphone batteries, there is a protector that prevents it from emitting stun carelessly. It's called the IP67 standard. IP stands for Ingress Protection, namely protection technology on the device. Number 6 means the battery is free from dust and dirt, while numbers 7 referred to as the level of protection against water. The water in question is the depth up to 1 meter.
So, Electric car batteries like the Wuling Air EV will not electrocute anyone who touches them, especially when the car is washed or exposed to rainwater when used on the road.
4. The battery must be full
Just like smartphones, the battery indicator will show a number 100 when fully charged and 0 percent when completely used up. Nah, what you have to remember is, The battery does not need to be charged or plugged in for a long time. Gomgom provides tips so that electric car batteries last for years.
“When the battery is about to run out, there will be an indicator when it reaches a number 5 percent. Here Wuling Air ev also has a battery saver mode or Battery Safe Mode. Nah, Don't wait for the battery to run down to zero percent. Try not less than 5 percent, then do the charging. Meanwhile, don't charge it until it's full 100 percent, it could be below that,” Gomgom said.
Wuling Air EV has a capacity battery 26,7 Kwh which if calculated per Kwh is only approx 1700 rupiah So you can compare the cost of recharging an electric car with a petrol car which costs IDR 14,000 per liter. Oia, Wuling Air ev requires charging for a long time 8 hours to reach full power or 100 percent. If it is full power, the distance can be reached 300 kilometer (for the Long Range variant).
Electric cars have quite interesting advantages if the myth of electric vehicles no longer exists in society. Apart from not having to fill up with petrol, the purchase price is also cheap. For example, the Wuling Air EV is only around IDR 250 million. Moreover, using an electric car can now be used at any time because it is odd-even.
