OTODIVA — PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) will introduce the latest mobility solutions in Indonesia at its participation in the Indonesia International Motor Show 2024 (IIMS) which was held on 15 until 25 February 2024 at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta. Through this event, Hyundai also wants to promote “Hyundai EV.Expect more” The aim is to encourage electrification in Indonesia which is demonstrated through the launch of IONIQ 5 Batik, as well as displaying the SEVEN Concept and the All New KONA Electric.
Hyundai has been a pioneer in introducing electric vehicles as a mobility solution for Indonesian society since 2013 2020, building an EV ecosystem from upstream to downstream through the construction of battery cell and battery pack factories, First domestic EV production, to expansion of more than 200 charging stations throughout Indonesia. These initiatives will play an important role in supporting the transition to electric vehicle transportation, while opening up new opportunities to introduce advanced and sustainable technology to the Indonesian automotive industry.

In line with the road map for the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle program (KBLBB) from the Indonesian Government, Hyundai is building a complete electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia, where the effort becomes part of the overall USD investment 3 billion. This strategic investment includes the construction of an integrated infrastructure complex to secure the domestic EV value chain. The infrastructure complex includes the first battery cell and battery system factory in Indonesia, each of which is located in Karawang and Cikarang.
The battery cell factory operated by PT HLI Green Power will be able to produce lithium-ion battery cells with total capacity 10 GWh per year to meet the needs of more than 150.000 unit BEV. So, The battery system factory operated by Hyundai Energi Indonesia is targeted to produce up to 50.000 unit Battery System Assembly (BSA) every year. Both facilities will operate from April 2024 This completes the PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia factory (HMM) which will increase electric car production capacity by up to 70.000 unit on 2024. The simultaneous operation of three Hyundai factories in Indonesia will provide electric vehicles with locally made battery components for the first time. These Hyundai BEV models are also projected to answer the needs of the Indonesian and foreign markets, especially in Southeast Asia.
Hyundai has also led the era of electrification of the Indonesian automotive sector by presenting the IONIQ and KONA Electric lines since 2020 and leading after-sales solutions that adapt to electric vehicle needs. Hyundai's ongoing efforts to advance the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia are also carried out by providing a network of charging stations in more than 200 point, including the fastest Ultra Fast Charging Station in Indonesia, and will be expanded to more regions. IONIQ 5 Batik combines tradition and modernization in innovationi
At the IIMS event 2024, Hyundai officially announced IONIQ 5 Batik is available in limited quantities to the general consumer. Previously, IONIQ 5 Batik has been introduced at GIIAS 2023 as a form of Hyundai's contribution to the commemoration 50 year of bilateral relations between Indonesia and South Korea. IONIQ 5 Batik is a special edition that combines innovative technology from Hyundai's electric vehicle line with the distinctive characteristics of batik that represent Indonesian traditions.
This car presents a Batik Kawung pattern which combines round geometric shapes similar to kawung fruit with Hyundai's signature parametric pixels. This pattern reflects unity and harmony in line with Hyundai's global vision, Progress for Humanity, in providing superior mobility solutions with positive social and environmental impacts. The connection between the Kawung Batik pattern and the IONIQ pixel design is not just a design element, but also a symbol of cultural heritage that combines analog and digital elements in the best electric vehicles from Hyundai Motor Company. Pixels become the link between the past and the future, in line with the brand's vision of designing future vehicle designs with inspiration from historical heritage.
The gray Kawung Batik pattern can be found decorating the hood, roof, side of the car, and the back door. The interior of the car is dominated by a gray Kawung Batik pattern- light gray and metallic ornaments with Batik Kawung patterns on the seats, horn, and armrests. To further add to the aesthetics of the IONIQ interior 5 Batik, Hyundai designed a light brown Kawung Batik pattern or soga on the car armrests with two pattern options. Soga colors depict nature, simplicity, and humanity, in line with the IONIQ design 5 which uses recycled and environmentally friendly materials for its various components.
IONIQ 5 Batik also brings all the advantages of IONIQ 5 as the first BEV mass produced in Indonesia.
