Otodiva – Institute of Nuclear Engineering (IKN) Malaysia prepares to host innovative trials by testing railless cars and taxi flying next July. This step marks significant progress in the transportation industry which is increasingly moving towards advanced technology.
Trackless train, which is also known as “hyperloop train”, is a high-speed vehicle that moves inside a vacuum tube, creating a smooth and efficient travel experience without the constraints of traditional rail. This technology has become a topic of conversation among engineers and transportation experts because of its potential to revolutionize the way we travel.
Meanwhile, flying taxis or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), has become a major focus in research and development in recent years. The flying taxi concept aims to solve land traffic congestion by providing a fast and efficient air transportation option.
It is hoped that this trial at IKN will provide a better understanding of the technical feasibility and security of both technologies. Experts will monitor the vehicles' performance during trials and evaluate their potential in the context of existing infrastructure and regulations.
Preparations for this trial have been going on for several months, with the technical team working hard to ensure all systems and security protocols are met. Authorities have also worked closely with technology manufacturers and developers to ensure that trials run smoothly.
However, while enthusiasm regarding the potential of this technology is high, there are still several challenges that need to be overcome. One of them is regulations that do not fully support the commercial use of trackless trains and flying taxis. Therefore, The trial will also provide a platform for discussing the need for regulatory and policy changes.
Besides that, Economic feasibility aspects will also be an important consideration. Although this technology promises time savings and efficiency, implementation costs may be a limiting factor for mass adoption.
Nevertheless, testing trackless trains and flying taxis at IKN is an important step in driving innovation in the transportation industry. This also reflects Malaysia's commitment to be a leader in adopting advanced technology to improve people's quality of life and mobility.
As part of efforts to promote innovation and collaboration across sectors, IKN plans to open this trial to public participation. This will provide an opportunity for the general public to see this technology firsthand and understand its potential impact on the future of transportation.
With this trial, the hope is that Malaysia can be one of the few countries that takes the lead in adopting the latest transportation technology. It's not just about creating more efficient transportation, but also about opening up new opportunities in the economy and sustainable development.
