Otodiva – Honda just launched the Airblade 160 in Vietnam, which is ready to challenge Yamaha Aerox's dominance in the automatic motorbike market. One of the main advantages offered by Airblade 160 is very efficient fuel consumption.
Honda Airblade design 160 looks aggressive and boxy, reminds us of the Winner. Meanwhile, Yamaha Aerox 155 Connected has a sporty appearance with a striking X-shape design, shows the fusion between supersport and scooter.
The main differences between Vario 160 dan Airblade 160 visible in their deck design. Vario 160 use a flat deck, while Airblade 160 featuring a sporty design with stepped steps in the middle.
Honda Airblade 160 also equipped with an Enhanced Smart Architecture Frame (eSAF), which is not found on the Airblade 125. This structure makes up the Airblade 160 more similar to the Vario 160 which is sold in Indonesia.
In the machinery sector, Honda Airblade 160 has engine capacity 157 cc, eSP+, four stroke, and four valves, similar to the Vario 160. This machine is capable of producing power 11,2 kW (15 HP) on 8.000 rpm and torque 14,6 Nm on 6.500 rpm. This figure is slightly larger than the Vario 160 which has maximum power 11,3 kW on 8.500 rpm and peak torque 13,8 Nm on 7.000 rpm.
Fuel consumption is an interesting differentiating factor. PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) claims that the Honda Vario 160 has a fuel consumption of 46,9 km/liter. This trial was carried out by activating the environmentally friendly Idling Stop System feature using the WMTC test method (World-wide Motorcycle Test Cycle).
What about Airblades 160? Based on data from Honda Philippines, Airblade 160 capable of achieving fuel consumption of 47,5 km/liter according to WMTC testing. It means, Airblade fuel consumption 160 more economical than the Vario 160.
Besides that, The weight of these two motorbikes is also different. Honda Airblade 160 the ABS type is heavy 114 kg, while Vario 160 has weight 115 kg for CBS type and 117 kg for ABS type.
For price, Honda Airblade 160 has started to be marketed in Vietnam with prices 56,69 million dong or around Rp 36,5 million. In the Philippines, The Airblade sells for 125.900 Peso or around Rp 35 million. As a comparison, Honda Vario 160 in Indonesia it is sold at prices starting from Rp 27.250.000 up to Rp 30.130.000.
With the advantage of a sporty design and more efficient fuel consumption, Honda Airblade 160 is an attractive choice for consumers who are looking for an automatic motorbike that is tough and fuel efficient.
