Otodiva – Mazda, Japanese car brand which now occupies a strategic position in the Indonesian automotive market, is known for its quality products that are comparable to premium brands. However, There is interesting news regarding how to buy a Mazda car in Indonesia. Do more people choose cash or credit payments??
According to Ricky Thio, Managing Director of Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), in the Mazda Power Drive event in Jakarta, It was revealed that currently the trend of buying Mazda cars tends to be mostly done in cash. Based on data obtained during the GIIAS event 2024, as much as 60 percent of consumers choose to buy Mazda cars with cash, while the rest, that is 40 percent, using credit.
“If asked cash or credit? Based on data while at GIIAS 2024 Yesterday, That 60 percent of cash purchases, and 40 credit percent,” said Ricky Thio on Wednesday, 11 September 2024.
Ricky added that this trend shows a significant increase in the number of cash purchases compared to last year. On 2023, the percentage of cash purchases only reaches 51-52 percent, while the rest use credit. This shows that more and more consumers are choosing to pay for Mazda cars in cash this year.
However, Ricky realizes that this data does not provide a complete picture of consumer profiles. “We have not conducted an in-depth survey regarding consumer profiles, whether they belong to the middle or upper class,” explained Ricky. He also added that they did not collect data on whether the car purchased was the first or second vehicle. There are many variables, such as purchases for children or relatives, that influence purchasing decisions.
On the other hand, Pramita Sari, GM Marketing & Communications PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia, also added that they did not ask consumers for further information regarding the purpose of the purchase. “We do not have specific data regarding purchase status, whether for personal use or for family,” said Pramita.
During the event, Ricky also revealed that the Mazda CX-5 model remains a mainstay in sales of Mazda products in Indonesia. “The current composition of Mazda car sales is still dominated by the CX-5,” Ricky said. He also revealed that sales of the Mazda CX-60 had increased quite significantly at GIIAS Surabaya, although CX-5, CX-3 hatchback, and the CX-30 still occupies the top spot on the sales list.
“Sales composition? Yesterday that was, I was surprised that the CX-60 sold a lot. At GIIAS Surabaya there is also a lot of demand for the CX-60, but if the sales number 1,2 and 3 it's still a Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-3 hatchback, new Mazda CX-60, so does the Mazda CX-30,” added Ricky.
With trends showing consumer preference for cash payments and the success of certain models such as the Mazda CX-5, It can be said that Mazda continues to strengthen its position in the Indonesian automotive market. Consumers who choose to buy cars in cash may be an indication of a high level of trust and satisfaction with this brand.
