Otodiva.id – PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) held the event "Hyundai Media Drive: The all-new KONA Electric” which involves 72 journalists to test the performance and comfort of the vehicle. This event shows HMID's commitment to quality and safety standards in providing reliable vehicles. On the first day, The KONA Electric Signature Long Range variant managed to cover the distance 420 km from Jakarta to Semarang on one charge.
Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, COO HMID, expressed his hope that journalists would experience the advantages of KONA Electric during the trip. He also appreciated the media's support in efforts to electrify vehicles in Indonesia. Positive response from consumers to KONA Electric which was launched at GIIAS 2024 shows that this vehicle offers advanced features and cutting-edge technology, as well as batteries produced in Indonesia.
Batteries for KONA Electric are produced by PT Hyundai LG Indonesia (HLI) in Karawang, the result of collaboration between Hyundai and LG Energy Solutions. This battery meets Hyundai's global quality standards, with strict supervision in the production process. Besides that, KONA Electric is an electric vehicle with the largest local components in Indonesia, thanks to assembly at the PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia factory (HMM).
HMMI applies a smart factory concept that follows global principles in its operations, ensuring that the quality and safety of vehicles comply with international standards. Implementing global standards in production is part of Hyundai's commitment to bringing the best products to consumers in Indonesia.
Hyundai is also investing in international standard manufacturing infrastructure, which contributes to the development of the domestic automotive industry. This aims to increase the industry's contribution to economic growth and make Indonesia one of the largest car producers in the world.
The media trip began with a ceremony at 9 morning, where all vehicles are fully loaded. Journalists use 8 KONA Electric unit Signature Long Range variant to explore the vehicle's features during the trip. They faced the challenge of not charging all the way from Jakarta to Semarang.
The result, the journey was successful 420 km with remaining battery power 15-20%, enough to cover the additional distance. The all-new KONA Electric offers torque 255 Nm, provides a pleasant driving experience, at maximum speed 167 km/hour for the long range variant.
The Hyundai Smartsense safety feature provides a feeling of security while driving, including Lane Keeping Assist and Blind-Spot View Monitoring. Driver Attention Warning is also active during the trip to detect driver fatigue and provide a warning to take a break.
Media also enjoyed a high-quality audio experience from the BOSE Premium Sound System during the trip. They stopped at two locations, namely Rest Area KM 207 A Palikanci for lunch and Rest Area KM 379 A Trunk for a short break.
Finally, The group arrived in Semarang and rested at the Tentrem Hotel. This event opens up opportunities for journalists to continue exciting adventures in the series “Hyundai Media Drive: The all-new KONA Electric” pada the next day.
