Indian car manufacturer, Bajaj and Triumph Motorcycles initially announced their partnership around 3-4 year ago year 2017. Early last year, in January 2020 Bajaj and Triumph formalize their partnership with the intention to develop a range of 200cc – 500cc motorcycles. The following is the information quoted by Otodiva.com from imotorbike.my.
Triumph Motorcycle's collaboration with Bajaj Auto has become a hot topic of late. Currently there is the latest update regarding their collaboration motorbike. Previously, it was stated that this collaboration motorbike product would be ready on 2022, because the ongoing pandemic made him step back. Reportedly Triumph Motorcycle with Bajaj Auto will be launched in the fiscal year 2023.
This development was confirmed by Rakesh Sharma as Executive Director of Bajaj Auto. According to Sharma, Motorcycle development with Triumph has reached an advanced stage with a prototype ready. According to the latest reports, the first of many fruits of the Triumph-Bajaj partnership could be the Triumph Bonneville 250 or Triumph Street 250 with a 250cc single cylinder engine.
Sources suggest the engine could be borrowed from the next generation Pulsar 250 Bajaj spotted recently. The new 250cc single cylinder air-cooled engine is said to have torque in the low and mid range; membuatnya sangat cocok untuk “Bonneville 250” atau “Triumph Street Single”. There is also a possibility that the new mill was jointly engineered by Bajaj and Triumph but we will never know.
If the speculation and rumors are true, we can expect the upcoming Triumph 250cc to be priced competitively. Regardless of engine capacity, Triumph's incoming model could create a bike like the Honda CB350, CB350RS, and Royal Enfield Meteor 350 make money. There is a high demand for small to medium bikes in the Asian market. Generally, East and West manufacturers of small and medium bikes are growing rapidly in the Asian market. Triumph moving into the small/medium motorcycle segment with its premium design DNA could be a bold move for the brand. Yah, but only time will tell.
