For education and research on electrification technology, Honda (PT Honda Prospect Motor) cooperate with the University of Indonesia. The embodiment of this collaboration, Honda lent two units of Honda e, one unit of Honda PCX Electric motorcycle and one unit of Honda's LiB-AID E500 power product to support mobility and learning activities in the UI environment. Honda donated an EV charging station which is used to charge the Honda e. Honda also donated a car with an environmentally friendly engine, Honda Brio as a research tool for Engineering students at the University of Indonesia.
This cooperation is marked by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Deputy Chancellor for Human Resources and Assets at the University of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. And. Dedi Priyadi, DEA and President Director of PT HPM, Kotaro Shimizu and Senior Vice President Director of PT HPM, Benawati Abas.
As part of knowledge transfer, Honda has provided educational classes and workshops to UI students for three years at HPM. It doesn't just stop at providing environmentally friendly products, Honda also supports a team of University of Indonesia students in designing and building energy-efficient vehicles at the Shell Eco Marathon Asia 2023 which will be held at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok on date 4-9 July 2023.
Honda is committed to addressing global environmental and energy issues by striving to achieve carbon neutrality for all of the company's products and activities in 2050. To realize this commitment, Honda will present environmentally friendly products through a hybrid car that will be launched in 2023.
The same vision is also shared by the University of Indonesia where currently the University of Indonesia is ranked first in Indonesia in UI GreenMetric, as a university that promotes greenery through various environmentally friendly programs covering all activities. UI GreenMetric is a movement initiated by the University of Indonesia to increase greening in university environments.
UI GreenMetric has been started since 2010 and have been followed more than 1000 universities in various countries of the world. The assessment of this movement is based on three pillars, namely the Environment, Economic and Social related to sustainable energy.
Kotaro Shimizu as President Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor said that, "HPM and UI have the same vision in creating an eco-friendly and sustainable ecosystem. This collaboration is a bridge between industry and academia in realizing electrification in Indonesia through education and research. We aim to reduce our environmental impact and provide sustainable solutions for society and future generations.”
Prof. Dr. And. Dedi Priyadi, DEA as Deputy Chancellor for Human Resources and Assets at the University of Indonesia said that, "UI is committed to reducing emissions in the campus area. One of the efforts to reduce emissions is by implementing sustainable transportation solutions, through the promotion of public transport, using a bicycle or walking, as well as the creation of electric vehicles. In line with UI's vision and mission, as a manufacturer of mobility products, Honda also has a global vision to create a carbon free society (net zero emission) in the year of 2050. This seriousness is evidenced by the Honda e:Technology which is Honda's initiative to create products with electrification technology."
Previously, Honda has delivered the Honda e:Technology at the Honda e:Technology Media Experience which was held on date 10 April 2023 in Karawang. After introducing the Honda e:Technology, Honda then introduced the Honda e:Technology of Honda Dreams Café, Jakarta on date 12 Mei – 31 July 2023.
Honda e:Technology is Honda's initiative for all of its electrification products, namely Honda Automobile, Honda Motorcycle and Honda Life Creation for other Power Products. This uniqueness is what makes Honda able to meet the diverse needs of both global and Indonesian communities.
