Astra Insurance Builds and Inaugurates Clean Water Facilities in Muarabakti Village, Bekasi

OTODIVA – Every individual has the right to access clean and consumable water because water is one of the basic needs for maintaining human health. Apart from being a basic daily need, increasing the supply of clean water and more efficient management of water resources, menurut World Health Organization (WHO), It can also encourage a country's economic growth and significantly reduce poverty levels.

In line with its commitment to provide peace of mind not only to customers but also to the wider community, Astra Insurance thas allocated social funds from Astra Syariah Insurance participants to build and inaugurate clean water facilities in Muarabakti Village, Babelan District, Bekasi, on 22 March 2024, coinciding with World Water Day. The inauguration of this clean water facility is in line with Astra Insurance's efforts to support the achievement of Sustainable Development goals (SDGs) poin 6, yaitu “Air Bersih dan Sanitasi Layak”, which aims to ensure the availability and sustainable management of clean water and sanitation for the community.

Apart from supporting the realization of SDGs points 6, This effort to provide clean water facilities also stems from the fact that previously all residents of Muarabakti Village could only depend on shallow wells with limited amounts of clean water to fulfill their daily needs.. So when the long dry season hits, apart from experiencing difficulties in getting clean water for themselves and their families, However, the villagers, who are basically residents who work as farmers and traders, are also affected by crop failure due to drought. Plus during the dry season, water tends to be cloudy and yellow and change its taste. Of course, this doesn't just have a bad impact on health, but also on the economy of local residents due to hampered sources of income.

Therefore, in an effort to help provide clean water facilities to the residents of Muarabakti Village, Astra Insurance drilled deep wells 110 meters to reach clean water sources and installation of water pump machines to meet the needs of local residents. With water produced as large as 5 m³ per hour, The water pump pumps clean water which is then stored in the water tank."We would like to thank Astra Insurance for their assistance in inaugurating the provision of clean water facilities to our village residents. Hopefully this facility can be used as well as possible by local residents and can help them find it easy to fulfill their needs, especially for harvests which are a means of livelihood so that it can help improve the economy of local residents even better.. We also hope that the presence of clean water can further support the surrounding environment to be clean and healthy so that it can avoid various diseases,"Said the Head of Babelan District, H. Khoiruddin.

To facilitate residents' access to clean water, Astra Insurance builds reservoir towers. The construction of this reservoir tower aims to make it easier for the water in the reservoir to be channeled into the pipes that have been successfully installed 40 villager's house. It doesn't stop there, Astra Insurance also provides shared tap facilities that local residents can use to get clean water.
