Otodiva – Driver SUV large sizes are often considered arrogant on the street. This may be due to the size of the vehicle which gives the impression of power and dominance. Mitsubishi Motors, as a manufacturer of large SUV vehicles such as the Pajero Sport, is aware of this stigma and takes steps to educate its consumers so they don't become arrogant on the street.

According to Andry Berlianto, Trainer & Program Development GDDC (Global Defensive Driving Consulting), Driving a large vehicle can affect the driver's emotions. “Pengemudi akan merasa lebih percaya diri dan superior saat berada di balik kemudi kendaraan yang besar dibandingkan dengan yang lebih kecil,” he said. This can trigger arrogant behavior, especially among those who have a certain position or status.

As a prevention strategy, Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia through PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) organizing a driving safety education program for Pajero Sport owners. Thunder Herling, General Manager of Product Strategy Division MMKSI, revealed that this education is not only to prevent arrogant behavior but also to ensure safety on the road. “Kami memiliki beberapa rekan dari komunitas yang selalu dekat dengan kami. Through this community, we provide education on how to drive a vehicle defensively,” jelas Guntur.

This educational program includes various activities such as coaching clinics for defensive driving, which is designed to teach drivers not to be aggressive on the road and always prioritize safety. Fajar Pratama, Assistant Manager PR & CSR Department PT MMKSI, adding that this education is not limited to Pajero Sport users only, but also covers other Mitsubishi models, like Xforce. “Kami mengadakan event dengan komunitas untuk beberapa edukasi, one of which is defensive driving,” kata Fajar.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is targeting the financially well-off. This vehicle is not only used for off-road purposes but also for daily needs in urban areas. Guntur explained that Pajero Sport consumers usually want to show pride in a vehicle that is tough and reliable on all terrains. “Untuk pasar Indonesia, This segment comes from the upper middle class who want to show their prestige and pride,he said.

With educational measures implemented by Mitsubishi, It is hoped that drivers of large SUVs like the Pajero Sport will be more aware of driving safety and avoid arrogant behavior.
