Flying cars have been imagined in different ways by various fictional universes in books, film, and television series. For several years now, it has been rumored that several companies are working to bring it to life, but there has been no commitment to make it publicly available as of yet.
Reported by entrepreneur, Xpeng is a Chinese company founded by He Xiaopeng and dedicated to creating electric cars. Xpeng and HT Aero have reportedly announced their new product, namely flying cars. The vehicle will operate on the ground and in the air using two propellers on its sides that allow it to fly like a drone. This mechanical arm increases the dimensions of the vehicle significantly, so the car will not be able to take off if it does not have enough space for the propeller.
It will be available starting in the year 2024, although HT Aero says the final design will likely change by then. This model has 15.000 successful test flight, indicates vehicle safety. The car will be able to reach speeds of 128 km / hour and carry a load of up to 200 kg. It will also have some precautions to keep passengers with parachutes in case of emergency, the company said.
The production has been financed by approx 500 million dollars that has been provided by investors who see a car with great potential in the future. He Xiaopeng, the company's founder believes that in 2040 10-15% of the Chinese population will drive flying cars.
